SUMMER SKILLS SESSIONS with DO WORK LLC

Presented by DEMONS YOUTH HOCKEY

Our Summer skills sessions are designed to gradually ease your Mite, Squirt, PeeWee and Bantam players back onto the ice in preparation for Fall placements and the start of the 2018-19 season.  This is also a good opportunity for your player to break in new skates for the upcoming season.  Be sure to try on your equipment to see if anything needs to be replaced. Skates, sticks and helmets tend to need to be replaced after a Summer growth spurt.

Skills sessions will be divided into two groups based on skill levels for the 2018-19 season.  Both sessions take place at NorthStar Youth Sports in Westboro on Mondays for 6 weeks in July and August. Sessions are capped at 30 players maximum.

We are happy partner with DoWork LLC once again to provide hockey instruction to our youth players.

From Do Work:

Do Work provides technical skill and skating-specific developmental training to youth players of all age levels and abilities. The curriculum utilizes a pyramid approach to teach proper fundamentals first and foremost, and progresses to utilize those fundamentals in small area games to build hockey IQ, creativity and decision making abilities.

The foundation for any successful player in today’s high-speed game is skating. Do Work incorporates tactical skating training - teaching players proper body position, knee bend, balance, edge work, pivoting ability and explosiveness. This is the core of the learn-to-skate and learn-to-hockey curriculums.

As the game has progressed in recent years from clutch and grab to a more wide-open style of hockey with a premium on top-end skill - proper stickhandling, passing and shooting skill training is absolutely necessary at a very young age as to maximize potential. Do Work focuses on teaching players the most basic of fundamentals when it comes to these areas and utilizes a variety of simple and highly creative drills to engage youth players and teach them the importance of skill fundamentals.

Skill sessions are designed with a “workshop” approach where coaches break the ice into small stations to focus on specific fundamentals and over-speed training. Upon rotating through each station, a variety of fun, engaging small area games are played to give players the opportunity to apply learned skills in controlled game situations.
